There are those that feel we have the best lifeguard trainer anywhere. Get your lifeguard certification at ICC this summer. At the end of our training you will be confident in the skills you have been taught and upon successfully completing the class will receive Red Cross lifeguard certification.

The American Red Cross requires candidates to be able to do the following before beginning lifeguard training:

* Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. You may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not allowed.

*Tread water for 2 minutes using only your legs.

*Surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet and retrieve a 10 pound object and then 20 yards to the starting point with both hands holding the object while keeping your face at or near the surface of the water. You must exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

It is the responsibility of the camper to come prepared to pass this entrance test. Campers who are unable to meet the requirement will not be able to stay for the camp and will not have their $75 deposit fee refunded.

Please also be aware that while ICC will make every effort to help your teen pass the American Red Cross Lifeguard course we cannot guarantee they will pass as we are bound by the requirements of the American Red Cross. If you are hoping to have your teen work as a lifeguard at a specific facility please check with that facility to understand their requirements for lifeguards working at their facility.

With this in mind please come prepared to meet the American Red Cross’s requirement for entrance into the lifeguard training program.
