Sharon is thrilled to be joining the ICC family this summer and working as the director of creative arts. She and her family have spent many summers at camp together, in Idaho where she also worked 4 summers while she was in college. She particularly enjoys the fact that her position at ICC means that she gets to spend her time fostering creativity in the campers that she interacts with, and helping them live up to their potential ‘inner artist’. Her opinion is that creativity is one of the most awesome ways that we can represent our Maker and our King to the world around us!!
Sharon’s degree is in Elementary Education, and has served in the mission fields for four years in Thailand. She then ran a home child care business for 7 years, in Portland, Oregon, and has spent most of the last 15 years homeschooling their 6 children, three of whom are a special-needs sibling group that they adopted from the foster system, (so they bring a unique set of challenges and perspective to the parenting process). Though her family life is obviously quite busy, she tries to find time to pursue her many hobbies, which of course revolve mostly around the creative arts; sewing, crochet, needlework, pottery, stained glass, card making/scrap booking, bead craft, simple woodworking or small construction projects.
